The Trick to Fall Transitions

Weathering the Storm Between Seasons...The Trick to Fall Transitions

So technically it’s still summer especially here in AZ with monsoon weather. The humidity in temps leave you feeling sweaty and makes getting dressed a daily challenge. Fashion moves lighting fast from season to season and our favorite magazines are pushing us towards autumn and winter and everything in between. And that’s exactly the problem. Our heads are screaming fall and the current weather is screaming summer. So lets ease our summer fashions into fall!

Hard Tail Sunset Horizon Tank Dress paired with tall leather tan lace-up boots

Take your Hard Tail Dress and cozy up in a Hard Tail Military Jacket for a killer fall look!

Free People Indigo Crochet Hoodie paired with our AG pixie shorts

Over the knee socks with vintage military style boot

Free People Fiesta Dress with tall leather tan lace-up boots

Take your Fiesta Dress and pair it with a sweater, hat, and tall boots for a great fall look!

To get the most mileage out of these looks simply layer your summer pieces with your long sleeves, jeans, leggings, scarves, socks, and cardigans for the cooler days ahead. And pair those boots with everything!

Easy Peasy!

Denim on Denim

Hi Hop Sing readers! Many people are afraid to pair a denim blouse with their denim jeans. I'm here to tell you, don't be afraid because denim on denim works! And denim is a big "fashion do" for fall.  Just like my outfit here, a denim blouse and denim jeans work because of the different shades. Pairing your denim pieces has potential to be amazing! Just grab some fun and colorful accessories and you're good to go! Even darker denim and boots would make this style perfect for Fall.

What I'm Wearing:

AG Denim Shirt
Free People Light Wash Denim Jeans
My mom's vintage Squash Blossom necklace :)
Southwestern Beaded Cuff
Wool Peruvian Belt
Genie Floppy Hat

Build your look at Hop Sing! Everything available there! Except for the necklace.

Here is some more inspiration for  you! Denim with denim works.

Love the Beauty of Winter Woolen Whites.....

Is there anything more beautiful in the Winter then luxurious Winter White Woolens and Leather Boots and Vintage Accessories....
Not in my world!
Maybe because I lived on a tiny heart shaped island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for three decades, and as such my winter fashions resembled summer fashion year after year, nice but kind of boring... so now that I am living here in Prescott I'm enjoying the change of seasons immensely!

I love bundling up in my favorite sweaters, scarves, hats and boots! It's so enjoyable and cozy to put these efficient layers on and they don't feel heavy or bulky, just pretty, feminine and warm.

Like a warm hug or a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows melted on top!!! My winter utopia!!!

I never thought a pair of leggings a winter white skirt and boots could feel so girly until I topped the ensemble with the floaty holiday knits currently offered by FreePeople , Relais and Odd Molly! My goodness these sweaters take away any ill memories of a winters chill! Now I just laugh at Mr. Weatherman trying to scare me into buying a fat Puffy Coat!

If your tired of the same old thing every winter... You need to infuse your wardrobe with some of the special pieces currently on the racks at Hop Sing...
We are always trying to bring you that extra special item that is sure to become your "New Favorite"...

I'm sure you'll feel like me
... excited to hear the forecast of wintery weather approaching... Again!!!

Have a Happy White Christmas my dears!!!

It's a fashionable word, bohemian..."

Wikipedia say's "A bohemian is a person who lives an artistic lifestyle, placing freedom of self-expression above all other desires, including wealth, social conformity and status". The term originated in France during the 19th century due to the influx of gypsies believed to be traveling from Czech Republic’s, Bohemia. The term quickly became generalized, however, indicative of a lifestyle rather than a nationality.

In the United States, the Beat generation of the 1950s and the hippies of the ‘60s reflected the bohemian subculture in many ways.

Bohemian fashion is an artistic style of dress that many people enjoy wearing. The style varies from ethnic trends to vintage fashion, and can even include traditional hippie-style clothing. An element that most bohemian fashion wearers share is a desire to express themselves aesthetically.

The contemporary bohemian woman has been reinterpreted, restyled and reinvented. Today we visit a few Bohemian inspired looks currently available in Hop Sing!

This style is often typified by certain particular looks, such as flowing dresses, loose garments that accentuate the wearer’s figure while still providing comfort, and striking uses of color. The style is often seen as more than just one particular fashion trend, and has been popular among a number of people for over 100 years.

Many of todays top runway designers such as Anna Sui, Roberto Cavalli and Ralph Lauren feature varied interpretations of this free-spirited trend, pushing the envelope in color, cut and texture. We believe you can capture the spirit of the look for less with our beautiful pieces shown here by FreePeople, Ruby Love Joy, Cordelia, and many, many more in our current summer offerings.

Whether you’re a true-blue gypsy or merely a hippie at heart, there are countless ways to channel your inner wild spirit this season. Temper vibrant prints and slouchy silhouettes with structured, neutral pieces and transform yourself into the new bohemian!

"I`m a girl from a good family who was very well brought up. One day I turned my back on it all and became a bohemian. Brigitte Bardot"

Ssssssteampunk!

February's edition of Pop Rocket came out today, and to my surprise, I found within it an article on a subject rather near my heart, so forgive me if I wax poetic more than usual. Willa Cowan's recent "In Fashion We Trust" column is jumping on the steampunk wagon, which gives me the perfect opportunity to make That Post I've been antsy to make. The first time I came into Hop Sing, I was just drooling over all the stuff I found that would go perfectly with the steampunk things in my own wardrobe, and I was hooked. And now one of the Natashas and I have an excuse to play steampunk dress-up all afternoon!

Evocative of "the future-past that never was" of Victorian steam technology and sci-fi like HG Wells' "The Time Machine", steampunk is one of those fashions that you can either play down for every day, or go full steam ahead (har har) for special occasions. Natasha here is sporting a lovely get-up for her airship tour of the Grand Canyon with the Queen this weekend, in a cream-colored skirt, leather boots and vest, and a vintage belt and hat. And, as you can see, she's taking along some reading material for the trip.

She even gets to stand in the window display!

Check out this month's Pop Rocket for Willa's own Steampunk-y outfits and to learn a bit more about this inventive subculture. And perhaps dip a toe into the steampunk pool yourself next week: don a top hat and pick up some classic Victorian literature on the 7th -- it's National Charles Dickens Day!
